LITFIN, RAINGRUBER AND STENCIL

Sean A. Stencil has always been a director first. Even before he graduated high school, he worked with his friend and partner, Eric Raingruber, developing and producing film projects. It was shortly after working on his first couple of films that Sean learned being a director would give him the creative freedom and control on the set that he desired. So, from that point on he knew he wanted to direct.

Sean began to read and absorb everything he could get his hands on that related to the craft of directing. He started seeing movies in a different way, and filmmaking became a big part of his life during his early teens. In high school and college, Sean worked on many student films and was heavily involved with the drama programs. His motto was "to learn by ‘doing’," and so, he eventually went on to book his first major project entitled Hidden Blessings. This was a tender story of overcoming fear and prejudice. And the rest, as we say, is history.

A few years later in 1992, Sean would go on to found Cornerstone Studios with longtime friend Eric. Sean has gone on to helm numerous film projects, producing Ghostwritten and directing Dreams of Gold. But he didn’t stop there. During this time he worked on projects such as the theatrical feature Terra Nova. While working on almost every level of production he headed up projects ranging from television pilots to feature films including The Cylinder, The Enemy Next Door, and Lucky’s Letters, a project currently in production.

Today, Sean lives in Escalon, California, a small town ten (10) miles north of Modesto. When not behind the camera, he can be found collecting DVD movies, camping, video editing, going to concerts, and studying architecture. One day Sean hopes to be like one of his idols, George Lucas, running a successful studio outside of the hectic Hollywood world, while producing five or more projects a year, projects for the whole family.
